Holders are alters which hold something for a system. It could be a collection of emotion, trauma, or symptoms. When an alter holds these things they may be affected by them in certain ways. It depends on the alter, how much they hold, and what they hold.

An alter can always have one or more of these roles at any given point in time. Some alters will have multiple of other mentioned roles. Some alters will only have one.
